Why it is here and not in use
Nano Banana returned a hard 500 on every request through this provider during the period the image pipeline was built, with no credits consumed — a provider-side outage rather than a payload problem. Seedream v4 was chosen instead and the product ships on it. The endpoint is still reachable, so this stays documented as the fallback rather than quietly deleted.
What would change if it were routed
Nothing a customer sets. The provider is one constant in the codebase; the identity log, seed, trait sentence and reference frame are provider-agnostic by design, so switching engines does not change what a character looks like.
Questions
Can I choose which image model generates my photos?+
Not today. One engine is selected for quality and cost and applied consistently, because mixing engines mid-account is a fast way to make a character's face drift between posts.
